Washington Memorial

Hey, it's Maj. Thought I'd give Dan a break and post about our short time in DC. We arrived late in the afternoon, in time to see most of the major sites before nightfall. We hung out with Lincoln at his memorial, and even saw the president being flown off in a helicopter. It sounds like I'm lying, but I'm not.

Being in D.C. was probably our first symbolic, eye-opening moment on this trip that made us feel like we've actually biked somewhere semi-far. We're still on the East Coast, however, and anxious to start heading West. I don't think any of us are going to miss the heavy traffic and terrifying roads along I95. While we were in town we were lucky enough to drop by the practice space the Deleted Scenes. These guys have been around the D.C. scene for quite a while and were kind enough to drop some wisdom on the area as well as play a few songs for us. Interview and live recordings to come shortly.

Although our journey down the coast added a week to our trip out to San Diego, I'm glad we went. There's something pretty cool about stopping by the nation's capital before crossing the heartland.

Thanks to my buddy Chris, for putting us up in his new apartment.
