On the road through Ohio

Piqua, Ohio - hometown of Shawnee warrior Tecumseh, former underwear capital of the world, and regional high school football center - was our most recent stop on Bandcycle.

Our short trip from Urbana to Piqua was along Route 36. The highway runs all the way out to Denver, but this leg was filled with cornfields and towns like Lena, with about eight houses. The road has a wide shoulder, and the drivers here actually switch into the next lane when possible to avoid us (contrast that with East Coast drivers, to whom we must have been invisible).

We stayed with our director's mother and family, who were welcoming, just like everyone else. When we stay with someone who is not welcoming, we'll be sure to make a huge fuss about it in the blog. The local paper did a write-up on us, but you need an account to see it. If you're following the blog, you're getting all the information you need anyway.

In other news, we seem to be hitting more of a groove. The first webisode is just a couple days out, and we're very excited about it. We've planned the next two weeks of our trip day-by-day, and we'll be heading down through Dayton and Cincinnati, across Indiana and Illinois, into Missouri.

Bandcycle does not recommend anyone else try to bike 60 miles a day, film a weekly webisode documentary, find local music, and do daily upkeep on a blog with a crew of four. Sometimes we even remember to Tweet and eat (which rhyme).
